1. The path of the Heart: the Abruzzo trekking that has the form of love
We are inside the mountain complex of the Marsicani Mountains. We could call it a path that has a particularly affectionate name. The Path of the Heart, in fact, owes its name to the characteristic shape at the heart of the lake that distinguishes it, the lake of Scanno. It is precisely the lake that serves as the starting point of this path suitable for trekking children from 5 years old and up.
The first stage of the walk, which lasts about an hour with a difference in height of about 210 m, is the Hermitage of Sant’Egidio, the one who would have freed the inhabitants of the place from the plague of 1656. The path continues towards the most panoramic point of the lake, from where the heart that distinguishes its shape becomes evident. This is a route that you can take all year round in the absence of snow.

2. From Santo Stefano di Sessanio to Rocca Calascio: children’s trekking to discover the Gran Sasso
If we say trekking Abruzzo… say Gran Sasso! The highest mountain massif of the Apennines offers many itineraries for the most experienced hikers but also for the whole family. If you are looking for trekking routes with children, the itinerary from Santo Stefano di Sessanio to Rocca Calascio is the one that can do it for you!
Starting from Santo Stefano di Sessanio, then follow the signs to Rocca Calascio. The route, which generally lasts up to about 4 hours, is one of the most evocative of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. It will allow you to go trekking with children to discover incredible natural places and spectacular villages. In particular, you will have the opportunity to reach Rocca Calascio.
If you decide to organize the route independently, study well any deviations within the Park. Consider the possible duration and age of your children, as boundless spaces also mean lots of sun and long walks.

3. Children trekking along the Lama Bianca path
Designed in the ’80s within the Majella Park, the path winds in the beech forest of Lama Bianca. S. Eufemia a Maiella is your starting point. Then continue to Passo San Leonardo and follow the signs to Lama Bianca. The centuries-old beech trees characterize the entire route. Their majesty enriches a small adventure immersed in unspoilt nature, to be discovered even for children at an early age. In addition, this route is suitable for trekking children with motor difficulties.
